Hamburg, Germany’s Lars Fenin (Shitkatapult, Echocord) brings his dub sensibilities to Detroit Underground with the Solidarity EP, a release that’s as beautiful sonically as its presentation is visually. Sharp, silvery synths work their way through the sparse, laid back, A side groove of Unity Dub, emerging from the depths with a hint of light. On the flip, the title track, Solidarity, melds prickly, melodic textures with a more upright bounce. The sleeve design for the 7″ vinyl, by The Designer’s Republic as part of Atoms Vectors Pixels Ghosts Series, is chrome foil stamped on a recycled brown sleeve. For people who enjoy beautiful dub techno and record collectors alike, this is a gorgeous release.
