Daytoner, short DTNR, is the concept art and character design project of Daniel Hahn. He is a German-born, L.A. based artist and designer, who is working for the entertainment, game and automotive industry. Daniel started obsessive sketching when he was around 15 years old, doing graffiti in his home town, where he later studied product design. Back then he started listening to IDM, Drum n Bass and HipHop and did some DJing on his own. His all-time favorite artists include Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and Plaid. Daytoner`s character designs have a distinct style inspired by Japanese anime, product design, graphic design, graffiti and music. He is known for his robot and mecha designs which often have urban or religious backgrounds. Robots are the perfect form of expression for him as they combine his backgrounds in product- and car design with his passion for creating characters. Daytoner`s technique is raw, dirty and chaotic as he combines multiple media to achieve his distinct look. As Daytoner, Daniel worked professionally on projects for Epic Games, Bungie, Sony Entertainment and Universal. As a heavily electronic music inspired artist, he also loves to get involved with music related passion projects like creating cover artworks. He also worked or together with Noisia & Former on their music video for Pleasure Model of Former’s Edge Mecha EP.
