Wataru IWATA – Life is Beautiful
cat# DETUND LTD 45
Life is Beautiful is an acoustic work created by reconstructing the sound generated by the behavior of cells in social simulation with 2D cellular automata. The original work Interactive Media Art “Life is Beautiful” is based on the idea that a cell repeats life and death through the activity of “taking away / giving” a parameter of Life (life power) to another cell. , It is a work to observe how they form a society.
The sound of this work is produced through the activities of these cells. Harmony consists of two major factors. One is related to the number of cells (population), and the other is the amount of life assigned to each cell. The largest number of cell groups determine the scale. Each cell group is assigned a note value, and the average value of the group’s Life changes the volume.
“Life is Beautiful” can be said to be a co-composition work composed by Cellular Automata and Wataru Iwata.
